Order of Christian Initiation of Adults.

Are you interested in becoming Catholic?  Are you a Baptized Catholic who would like to receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion and/or Confirmation?

At Holy Family Catholic Church, we strive to meet the unique needs of those interested in finding out more about Catholicism to prepare them for the reception of their Sacraments of Initiation – Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Communion – that will bring them into full communion with the Church founded by Jesus Christ. Our program welcomes both those who have already decided to pursue full communion with the Church and those who are simply seeking more information about its doctrines and practices in order to make an informed decision about whether to seek initiation into the Church. This includes those that have been raised:

  • In a non-Christian religious tradition (e.g., Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist),

  • In another Christian ecclesial community (e.g., Baptist, Lutheran, Methodist),

  • Catholic at one point but have fallen away and are now ready to complete their Sacraments and resume the practice of the faith, and

  • Those who come to us from no religious tradition whatsoever.

We believe that the program one pursues should be aligned with where one currently is on their faith journey. Hence, we do not believe in a “one-size fits all” solution.

For those who know very little about the Catholic Faith and can be considered completely new to its practice, we offer a robust program that will expose one to all the major elements of what Catholics believe, how those beliefs translate into the practice of the faith, what living as a Catholic means from a moral and social perspective in the public square, and how one can best deepen their relationship with God through prayer and devotions.

For those for whom the complete program is appropriate, we will walk with you for at least a full liturgical year to ensure you have a well-rounded introduction to the meaning and practice of our faith and get to experience all the richness a full liturgical cycle has to offer. This program is recommended for all those who are unbaptized, those who have had little exposure to any formal Christian religious education, and those who have had very little exposure to Catholic practices and traditions.

For those who are Baptized Christians who have practiced their faith (perhaps inconsistently) and who have received some religious education we recommend a less comprehensive program that assumes the student understands the basics of Christian belief and already knows how to translate that knowledge into how they live their life.

Finally, for those who are Baptized and who have been actively practicing their faith in another Christian ecclesial community, as well as those baptized Catholic who have been consistently practicing their faith within the Catholic framework, we recommend our program that focuses on the Liturgy / Sacraments and devotional practices to complete one’s preparation for the reception of the Sacraments and living out a sacramental life moving forward.
