WE HAVE OUR NEW NAME

THE OLD BECOMES NEW AGAIN

For nearly 45 years, our beloved parish had been the seat of the Bishop of the Diocese of Orange, when Holy Family was named the very first cathedral in the heart of Orange County in June 1976. When Christ Cathedral was dedicated on July 17, 2019, the Diocese of Orange and the Bishop established a new cathedral at the iconic Orange County landmark in Garden Grove. While our Holy Family community will always take pride in our rich history as the first cathedral of the Diocese of Orange, it is now time for our parish to return to its roots, when we were first established as Holy Family Catholic Church, 99 years ago on December 18, 1921.

While our name has changed back to its original moniker, one thing remains the same: our mission to be a dynamic parish that brings people closer to Christ. So it is with great pleasure that we introduce our new name:

Holy Family Catholic Church

First Cathedral of the Diocese of Orange
