Interested in Becoming an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion (EMHC)?
Serving as an EMHC is a beautiful way to share Christ’s presence with the faithful. Here are the basics:
What Does an EMHC Do?
Assists in distributing Holy Communion during Mass.
Brings the Eucharist to the sick and homebound.
Who Can Serve?
A parishioner who is a practicing Catholic in good standing.
Has received Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.
At least 18 years old.
Spiritual Life
Regular participation in Mass and the sacraments.
Commitment to prayer and reverence for the Eucharist.
Training & Preparation
Attend a parish training session to learn the theology and practical guidelines for this ministry.
As part of the process, a simple background check is required to ensure the safety and care of our community.
Dress & Conduct
Dress modestly and appropriately.
Maintain reverence and attentiveness during Mass.
Commitment
Serve at scheduled Masses, arriving early for check in and, when possible, visit the sick and homebound.
All EMHCs are commissioned by the pastor as part of their ministry.
Communicate availability with parish leadership.
